Mid-Week Break
Moshie Moshie is always taking me out, always giving me passes, inviting me to some kind of show or another so last night I wanted to return the favor. I was in my office yesterday up in CT and didn't feel like traveling all the way downtown to lower Manhattan or even midtown. I know Harlem Grill started doing comedy on Wednesday nights and I wanted to check it out since Capone is hosting...that's a funny dude!
MM lives in Harlem a few blocks away from HG so it was perfect. We decide to meet there to make it easier on me and even with that...I'm still running late (I always am). I tell her to go on inside and get some seats for the show since I have no idea how the set up's gonna be in there. She doesn't say it but she's nervous about going in without me, she says she'll just wait outside till I come. I never date other nationalities but black women so sometimes her behavior completely catches me off-guard. We get inside and I tease her about it as we are sitted then she admits she wasnt sure how "people" would react to her and wanted me to be there. I'm thinking to myself...wait a minute!! You LIVE in Harlem. What the hell are you talking about? But after we sat and as we ordered I started seeing evidence that she just maybe right....
The place was full to the rim but there were maybe 5 guys including me in the audience. There was some really nice chicks there too and here I am with a Japanese chick. I got some stares that for the first time in my life I didn't quite recognize. Then I started thinking, here I am in Harlem, in this black owned spot, getting ready to listen to black comedy with an Asian chick on my arm in my cuff-links and suit & tie to boot (a nigga did look good though, lol). The feeling was only with me for a minute or two but I did have to acknowledge it was "in the air". After that feeling past, we had a great dinner and Capone was funny as hell, most of the comics were too. I've always liked that spot, Imma have to go back more often. Afterwards I was thinking how my apartment was since I never stopped home first because I thought she'd wanna come back with me. (sidebar-All jokes aside, I really lucked out in the fact that NYL & MM have long brunette white girly type of hair and exactly alike. Their hair is always all over my apartment, they both shed like goddamn cats)
Thank god we were both tired and it didnt take much convincing that I was just taking her home especially since she was literally 3 or 4 blocks away. I dropped MM off and came home. Just out of curiosity looked around my apartment in case she would have came over.....
Of course, coincidently it was spotless (which is rare)....just my luck. Damn!!!

I thought your night was gonna end with you making "sushi" at your place. I've been to the harlem Grill, they have the best bread and olive oil. The food is so so. The drink are busted and the service could be better. That's just my take. Glad you liked it.
Wow, we like the same thing huh? By the time my meal came I was full off the bread. Ditto on the food though. You gotta put me up on some new spots. Nah, no "sushi" for me...I was home all by my lonely, lol.
It sounds like you know all the spots. I let you know when I try a new place out. It may be a minute though (cash flow is low).
@ Phoenix: Yes my dear, you do that, you prolly know more spots than you realize...who knows I may end up treating you to a spot, my dime of course:)
I haven't been to the Harlem Grill yet, but the bread and olive oil at Salute isn't half bad either.
@ Organized: I've been hearing some good things about that spot, Salute. Imma have to hit you up for some more info on that. I'll be stopping through this week.
